Personalised weight loss support
Weight loss is a challenging endeavor; however, our physicians can facilitate the process. They will collaborate with you to develop a strategy that integrates approved weight loss medications, lifestyle modifications, and diet to assist you in achieving a healthier body mass index (BMI).

What your weight loss journey looks like
Comprehensive evaluation: Prior to prescribing any medication or proposing alternative weight loss strategies, it is imperative that our physicians conduct an initial evaluation. Please be aware that any treatment recommended by our general practitioners must be implemented in conjunction with additional weight loss strategies, such as an enhanced diet.
An injectable weight loss medication may be prescribed by your physician if you are between the ages of 18 and 75 and have a body mass index (BMI) exceeding 30. We typically do not recommend injections for individuals with a body mass index (BMI) of less than 30, unless there is a pre-existing weight-related condition. In that event, we will require a diagnosis letter from your family physician. Oral medication is an option that your physician may recommend to assist in weight loss if your body mass index (BMI) is less than 30.
This can be addressed during your consultation for weight management. Achieving weight loss objectives: We will establish weight loss objectives for you if you are prescribed medication. It is crucial to accomplish these objectives in order to continue treatment. If not, your physician may elect to discontinue the medication.

How soon can I begin treatment?
Our weight control program is provided to people aged 18 to 75 years old in the following cases:
(i) If your BMI exceeds 30, we will prescribe injectable medicine.
If you have a BMI of 27-30 and a weight-related condition (e.g., pre-diabetes, T2DM, hypertension, dyslipidemia, or obstructive sleep apnea), we will need a letter from your GP to prescribe injectable medication.
(iii) If your BMI is between 27 and 30, without a weight-related problem, we will recommend oral medicine.
If you are uncertain, you may determine your BMI here.
Please keep in mind that the pharmacist will examine your weight, height, and waist measurement when you are at the drugstore. If your BMI differs considerably from what you reported on the questionnaire, you will be sent back to the Irish GP team, and your prescription may not be delivered.
The medicine for controlling weight, how does it function?
Injections with a GLP-1 inhibitor are among our weight-management drugs. You normally release GLP-1 after eating; however, the GLP-1 inhibitor reduces your appetite, causing you to feel less hungry. It may aid in weight reduction when paired with dietary and lifestyle modifications.
What is the first step in beginning the weight loss program?
First, you must complete an initial examination, which consists of an online questionnaire and a weight management session. One of our GPs will call to provide advise and discuss next actions. They will review any essential drugs with you and advise you on the best treatment alternatives.
